The Directorate of Tourism (TCT) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Mackenzie High School in Guyana during their educational excursion to Suriname, held from March 28 to April 4, 2026.

The group consisted of 12 teachers and 30 students, with the aim of learning about Surinamese culture, people, education, tourism, communication, governance, and the judicial system.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by the Minister of Transport, Communication and Tourism (TCT), who delivered a brief welcome speech. The group then visited Surinam Airways (SLM), where inspiring presentations were given by the Deputy Director of Tourism – Subdirectorate Marketing & Branding, the Director of Tourism, and the Director of SLM.

The day concluded with a cheerful gathering where students and teachers enjoyed snacks and drinks, and each received a gift bag from the Directorate of Tourism as a token of appreciation.

It was a day filled with knowledge exchange, inspiration, and cultural connection. The Directorate of Tourism looks forward to more collaborations that strengthen the ties between Suriname and Guyana!
