Vakantiebeurs Utrecht 2025

TCT and private sector also at this year’s Vakantiebeurs Utrecht

Suriname will also be at this year’s Holiday Fair in Utrecht. From January 8 to 12, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Tourism (TCT) will participate in the event together with representatives from the private sector including Hotel Torarica, All Suriname Travel, Frederiksdorp, Access Travel and the SHATA. This fair, one of the major tourism fairs in Europe, currently the largest tourism market for Suriname, provides an important platform to promote Suriname as a unique vacation destination.

Participation in the Vakantiebeurs is aimed at presenting Suriname as a country with rich nature, diverse cultures, heritage and events. At the same time, it is an opportunity to strengthen collaborations with international tour operators and increase visibility in the Dutch market. The Netherlands is seen as an important market because of its shared history and strong ties with the Surinamese diaspora.

The ministry is pursuing a strategic policy to position Suriname as a sustainable and hospitable destination. Participation in relevant trade fairs, such as the Holiday Fair, is part of the tourism directorate’s marketing & branding strategy. The goal is to increase the number of incoming tourists and increase the economic benefits for the country.

During the previous edition of the Vakantiebeurs, Suriname’s representatives managed to inform hundreds of visitors about the country’s tourism offerings. Several tour operators showed interest in including Suriname in their travel offerings. Valuable contacts were also made with potential investors and cooperation partners.

In addition to the Vakantiebeurs, more international trade fairs are planned for 2025, including the ITB in Berlin, Salon Du Tourism in French Guiana, Cruise fair in Miami the WTTT Expo and Travel & Adventures in the US. TCT remains committed to building a broad network and further developing the tourism industry.

To strengthen/support the marketing promotion of these activities, destination guides, a website, banners, posters and flyer have been developed. For those interested, more information about travel to Suriname can be found on the official tourism website, www.suriname.travel. Updates on events and tourism activities are shared here. With a strong presence at the Vakantiebeurs, Suriname is again taking steps to position itself internationally as a vacation destination and attract more visitors.
