In the context of regional cooperation and cultural exchange, the Directorate of Tourism welcomes a delegation from the Haynesville Youth Club from Barbados from April 8 to 15, 2026. The group, consisting of approximately 20 young people and chaperones, is visiting Suriname under the theme “United Through Cultural Fusion.” The opening ceremony took place at the Congress Hall, with the Director of Tourism, Ms. Tamin, and the Minister’s advisor, Mr. Noordzee, in attendance.
Also present were other involved ministries, including Youth Development and Sports, the CARICOM Ambassador, the SDG Youth Ambassador, and others.
The Directorate of Tourism, with the support of the Foundation B’Art, Culture & Sport Empowerment, emphasizes the growing importance of cultural tourism as a strategic priority within the sector. By encouraging international exchanges, Suriname is being positioned more strongly as a unique and diverse tourist destination.
The purpose of this visit is to give the delegation an authentic taste of Suriname. During their stay, participants will be introduced to the rich cultural diversity, traditions, gastronomy, and tourism opportunities that Suriname has to offer.
The delegation’s program is varied and focused on experience, exchange, and promotion. Activities include cultural performances, workshops, and interactive sessions. In addition, visits will be made to tourist and historical sites, and meetings will take place with local organizations and stakeholders. Various media and promotional moments will also take place, putting Suriname and the companies involved in the international spotlight.
According to the organizers, this exchange contributes to strengthening cultural ties within the Caribbean region and further positioning Suriname as an attractive destination for tourism and international cooperation.
With this initiative, the B’Art Foundation underscores its longstanding commitment to promoting sports and cultural diplomacy and creating opportunities for young people at the international level.
The organization expresses its special thanks to the Ministry of Transport, Communication & Tourism, the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports, and Surinam Airways for their support in making this project a reality.
